News on Kovy:

KOVALEV TALKS ABOUT HIS KNEE, RICHER ABOUT HIS 1,000th GAME IN OUR GAME PREVIEW

For the textbook definition of “ants in the pants,” look no further than Penguins forward Alexei Kovalev.

Kovy, who has been laid up with a knee injury for the past two and a half weeks, sat through the Penguins morning skate on Saturday, and was itching to get back into action. He says his recovery from surgery is coming along just fine.

”It feels awesome,” he said when asked about how his knee felt. “I can’t wait to just start skating.”

Kovalev is scheduled to be looked at again on Monday by doctors, and if the swelling is down in the knee, he could be back on the ice during the team’s four game road trip, which begins next Tuesday in Carolina.

”The past two and a half weeks have been really boring,” he stated. “This is the time of the year when you’re supposed to be out there and playing.”

And while Kovalev was forced to watch the action from the sidelines, one Pittsburgh forward should be putting his name in the record books this evening. Stephane Richer, who has four goals for the Penguins this season, will be suiting up for his 1,00th NHL game tonight.

”It’s a dream,” said Richer after this morning’s warm-up. “When you play your first game in the NHL it’s something that you dream about.”

Richer had the game circled on his calendar before the season started, and even scooped up a few extra tickets for friends and family.

”It cost me a lot of money for tickets,” he joked. “But it’s nice to be a part of it.”

He is a good sport, huh? lol...poor Kovy! Come back ASAP!!!
  Another one bites the dust:
Penguins are still recovering from the losses of Hans, Janne, Mario, and Kovy. Now, another one of my boys "bites the dust". This time it is the sweet heart himself, Martin Straka. I got the pleasure of touching him in a pre-season game against Boston last september, in providence. Ever since then, he and I have had this connection. Like once, I was watching apenguins game, it was in OT and I said "Straka just get a break awaya nd score, just do something". Then I got up and left the room for a second and that is what he did. i came back to the announcers screaming "Starka scores" It was cool. I have this mental attachment with him...lol. Now he is hurt, broken right leg (ouch!!!!). He is out for at least five months, so fans, brace yourselfs for a Straka-less season...**sniff sniff**

Come back player...and how he is getting back to the swing of things:
Richer, a comeback player, backs Lemieux up with making coming back look easy. He has definately been an improvement for the Penguins! I am really proud of him and he will keep raking in the points as the season goes on. He is just a good all around player!

Slow start for Wilkes-Barre
Wilkes-Barre's slow start (one win so far) ian't helping the team in the long run. It will take time for the loss of some players to kick in, but it will soon. If Tallas is their #1 goalie, once he gets use to the time, he will step up. He is a good AHL goalie and has proven that with providence!

Good Luck Wilkes barre!

Go get the Calder Cup!
